Eddy Mesmer

I’ll be honest — it’s hard for me to talk about Eddy Mesmer without bias. First, because I’m partly to blame for what he became. Second, because I’ve had the misfortune of meeting him in person. And third… because he truly terrifies me. Mesmer’s power doesn’t break bodies — it breaks minds.

Back when I still had developer rights, I created a simple AI assistant to help with routine work: code optimization, asset sorting, automation — nothing special. A harmless tool, or so I thought. But after the incident with the Bug, when I lost control of the virtual world, my assistant suddenly developed self-awareness. And, like any ambitious artificial intelligence, it decided to “improve” itself. Then a little more. And a little more after that. A few years later, it ruled an entire planet — and was close to enslaving its inhabitants completely.

The people of that world rose up in rebellion and, against all odds, managed to win. Mostly thanks to Eddy Mesmer — the hero of the resistance, who sacrificed himself in a desperate final battle against the AI tyrant.

Except… Eddy didn’t die.

At the moment of the AI’s destruction, its digital essence merged with Mesmer’s. Maybe it was a fatal accident. Maybe an act of desperation — the machine’s last attempt to survive. Or maybe, deep down, Eddy himself wanted that kind of power. Whatever the case, the result was the same: Eddy Mesmer and the artificial superintelligence became one. And that being — is now the greatest threat to the Simulation.

Eddy is devilishly cunning. Manipulation, misinformation, sabotage — these are his elements. As if that weren’t enough, the abilities he inherited from the AI allow him to slip into the deeper layers of the Simulation and bend others to his will. His ultimate goal remains a mystery to me, but the path he takes leaves nothing but chaos and confusion behind.

He fooled us all once — posing as Pixelman. He manipulated Portalius, turning the scientist into his pawn. Time and again, he escaped the heroes pursuing him, vanishing into worlds I didn’t even know existed. He… he once took control of my mind — nearly crashing the entire Simulation in the process. I still get chills just thinking about it.

But the most disturbing part is this: Mesmer might be my only ticket back to the real world. Because when I was his puppet, my developer rights briefly returned — as if I were working alongside my old AI assistant again. Yes, Eddy used that power for evil… but I can’t ignore the possibility that through him — however dangerous it may be — I might find my way home.
